How We Decide Where Our Candle Donations Go

“Giving back” sounds nice.

It also doesn't tell you very much.

Simple Nature is a one person business, which means there isn't a committee deciding where donations go. There's just a limited amount we can give, a lot of worthy requests and the responsibility to make the best decisions we can.

Why Donate at All?

Because Simple Nature exists in a community, not just on a website.

People shop with us at markets, tell friends about us, come back year after year and make it possible for this business to exist. Supporting organizations doing good work around that same community feels like part of the deal.

Who Gets Priority

We focus on organizations and programs serving people directly, including schools, shelters, food programs and community events.

The goal is pretty simple. Put what we can give somewhere it can actually help.

Why We Have Limits

A one person business can't say yes to every request. We have guidelines so the process stays manageable and reasonably fair, even when saying no isn't particularly fun.

Those limits aren't a statement about whether another cause matters. They're simply the reality of having finite resources.

What This Looks Like in Practice

Requests are considered individually. Clear community impact matters. Existing relationships can matter too. Most importantly, we try to make decisions we would be comfortable explaining publicly.

Why Explain Any of This?

Because “we give back” is easy to put on an About page.

We'd rather tell you what that actually means, including the limits.
